SingularityNET embarked on a mission to build decentralized, beneficial Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) from its inception in 2017. We have worked closely with the Supervisory Council (SC) in this regard and we have taken an exploratory approach, running experiments such as the grassroots Ambassador program and Deep Funding grant program. We remain committed to forwarding our mission in all possible ways.
Last year, we accelerated our efforts, working with a new SC to create a Decentralization Blueprint. The intention of the Blueprint was to develop governance processes for the decentralization of artificial intelligence, to ensure that no centralized power can take control of SingularityNET’s AGI systems. The community voted the Council into position on 24 October 2023, with the mandate to deliver a preliminary framework for the decentralization initiative.
Early in their six-month term, the Council shifted focus from governance process development to produce an audit of key sites for decentralization, comment on operational processes, and interface with the Ambassador Program and Deep Funding. Breaking away from the mandate as originally planned, the document suggests a jumping-off point for certain decentralization experiments for SingularityNET to consider.
As Artificial Intelligence evolves, the importance of decentralization becomes increasingly important. We thank the SC for their work on their interpretation of the numerous challenges faced by the blockchain and decentralized AI industries, though we respectfully disagree on a number of points and issues.
With the completion of this Council’s initiative, we will take some time to absorb the SC’s findings and make preparations for the next stages in the ongoing quest to define and design a meaningful decentralization process for the next generations of AI, AGI, and ultimately, Artificial Superintelligence (ASI).
Our thanks go out to everyone who took part in the discussion and creation of this work, and we look forward to sharing more information on where this journey to decentralized, beneficial AGI will go next in the coming months.

SingularityNET was founded by Dr. Ben Goertzel with the mission of creating a decentralized, democratic, inclusive, and beneficial Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). An AGI is not dependent on any central entity, is open to anyone, and is not restricted to the narrow goals of a single corporation or even a single country. The SingularityNET team includes seasoned engineers, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, and marketers. Our core platform and AI teams are further complemented by specialized teams devoted to application areas such as finance, robotics, biomedical AI, media, arts, and entertainment.
