Wednesday, July 10, 2024 – In a milestone agreement, SingularityNET, a leading AI platform developer headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, and the Filecoin Foundation, which facilitates governance of the Filecoin network, funds research and development projects, and supports the growth of the Filecoin ecosystem and community, have entered a strategic collaboration to marks a significant step towards enhancing the integration of the AI and DePIN industries while adhering to strong decentralization principles and promoting the development of the Knowledge Layer.
Both SingularityNET and Filecoin Foundation have had a longstanding dedication to the values of decentralization, AI ethics and data provenance. The commitments the two organizations have to these values make this collaboration an exciting and yet natural progression toward achieving their shared goals. It goes beyond highlighting their shared dedication and values – it paves the way for innovative advancements in decentralized AI and secure data storage, potentially promising to set a new standard for the industry and revolutionizing DePIN. Additionally, this collaboration will explore the formation of an AI Ethics working group, further reinforcing their commitment to ethical practices in the development and deployment of AI.
The key objectives of this collaboration include several short- mid-, and long-term goals. In the short term, SingularityNET will utilize the SDK from Lighthouse, one of the primary data onboarding solutions in the Filecoin ecosystem, to store metadata. Mid-term goals focus on integrating the Filecoin tech stack into SingularityNET to support archival data needs, enhancing the robustness and security of AI-generated data storage. In the long term, the collaboration aims to leverage Filecoin for creating and managing Knowledge Graphs, which are essential to the realization of the Knowledge Layer initiative started by SingularityNET.
Additionally, Filecoin is a leading project in the decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) space, particularly in cloud storage. DePIN projects leverage blockchain technology and cryptoeconomics to create more transparent and verifiable networks, aiming for efficient scalability compared to centralized networks. This joint venture will further the benefits of DePIN by demonstrating real-world applicability and the potential for significant industry impact. Additionally, the integration of AI services into Filecoin’s decentralized data storage system (and vice versa) will be explored to foster innovation and to make the two ecosystems interoperable and synergistic.
